COACHING AGREEMENT
1. Face to Face Biblical Life Coaching ministry is not affiliated with any specific church or organization.
2. The purpose of biblical life coaching is to encourage emotional and spiritual growth in a person’s life. I will do my best to support, clarify, and assist in goal setting with others. My help is based on principles from Scripture and my own walk with the Lord. I am not a licensed counselor. My help should not be equaled with professional therapy but is rather spiritual discipleship.
3. My goal is to draw a person closer to the Lord in their spiritual pilgrimage. I will pray during each meeting. My requirements usually involve the following expectations of the person I am counseling. If the counselee is a minor, the responsibility falls on the parent to ensure these requirements are met.
a. to attend Sunday school and one or more worship services no less than 2 times per month
b. to have regular devotions (Bible reading and/or prayer) between sessions
c. to keep relationally connected to the Body of Christ
d. to seek to serve in ministry so as to share of yourself with the body of Christ
e. to complete assignments between sessions, including spiritual assignments.
f. To attend each scheduled session and arrive on time.
4. I endeavor to protect the confidentiality of all people involved in coaching. What is discussed is not shared with anyone except prayer partners that have been mutually agreed upon. The purpose of the prayer partners is collaboration and accountability. In these instances, only your first initial will be used and all partners will keep information confidential from all persons outside the prayer group.
5. Confidentiality to protect me is also important. Quoting me to others outside the context of the coaching session can be harmful to the growing process and myself. I would encourage you to ask for clarification or share your frustrations with me first. If that is not satisfactory, then please talk with one of the prayer partners for help in resolving your questions or frustrations.
6. Courts have held that if an individual appears to intend to take harmful or criminal action against another person or against self, it is my duty to warn appropriate persons or agencies, such as a personal physician or law enforcement officials. Also, if there is any suspicion or recent or current child abuse, there is a legal duty to report the abuse to appropriate social agencies.
Before informing appropriate officials, I will attempt to first share with the person being coached, the intent to report. Every effort will be made to assist the person being coached in resolving the issue. Further, if there is ongoing behavior that is clearly spiritually damaging to another (Biblical immoral or unethical), confidentiality may be broken in order to resolve the situation.
7. In order to encourage an accurate assessment of progress, there will be an evaluation of the coaching process at various intervals. These evaluations are designed to allow the person being coached and myself to decide whether to continue, refer to a Christian professional, or discontinue the coaching relationship.
8. If the person being coached is a minor, I believe that I am obligated to reveal any illegal, immoral, or physically destructive behavior to the parent or guardian. The minor will be allowed first opportunity to share said information with the parent prior to my meeting with the parent to discuss the matter.
9. By signing this agreement, you also agree not to discuss your specific personal issues with anyone other than your coach and pastor, for the duration of the coaching relationship, (unless otherwise agreed upon). Seeking additional counsel can interfere with the growth process.
